  3. Delivering Love With Every Meal
  • “The meals that I receive on a weekly basis from Open Hand provide a primary source of nutrition for me. The meals are helpful, especially because I am unable to prepare my own meals.”

Every Wednesday, Tre, a dedicated delivery driver, brings more than just meals to Mr. John Davis—he brings joy, comfort, and a connection that brightens Mr. Davis’ week.

Mr. Davis relies solely on the meals provided by Open Hand for his daily nutrition. Living with hypertension and diabetes, the meals are tailored to his particular medical needs. Like many older adults, Mr. Davis navigates the challenges of aging and maintaining a special diet, making the role of our medically tailored meal delivery service even more crucial.

Mr. Davis is just one of many—each meal we deliver supports someone in need, ensuring they receive nutritious food and a human connection that can make all the difference. Your donation helps us continue to serve individuals like Mr. Davis, who depend on us not just for their next meal but for the sense of community and care that comes with it.

Open Hand has provided love, dignity, and nutrition since 1988. We are the largest community-based provider of home-delivered meals and nutrition education in the Southeast, serving individuals with chronic disease, homebound seniors, or those unable to cook for themselves. All our services are free, as 97 percent of our clients live at or below the federal poverty line.

With over 35 million meals delivered and counting, we remain focused on our mission: We Cook. We Deliver. We Teach. We Care.
