  3. Close the Health Gap for At-Risk Georgians
  • Close the Health Gap for At-Risk Georgians logo
  • Food is medicine, and we believe in providing equitable access to nutritious food for all, regardless of your circumstances. That's because we understand that there are many non-medical factors that can affect a person's health such as their income, where they live, their job, their age, education, social ties, and more.

These social determinants of health are the focus of Minority Health Month, which we observe every April. By supporting Open Hand, your generosity helps us to:
    • Meet our clients where they are with our many nutrition education and counseling services, ensuring they're empowered with the tools they need to make independent, healthy choices

    • Offer menus that are culturally appropriate to fit a wide range of preferences and ensure our clients can always find something delicious to eat

    • Translate more of our educational materials, together with our Food is Medicine partners, into multiple languages to improve accessibility

    • Ensure that all of our clients have access to healthy food and nutrition, regardless of background, zip code or circumstance.

Thank you for supporting equitable access to nutrition and Food is Medicine this Minority Health Month. Together, we'll continue to create a healthier Georgia for all!
