I love this event, not only because I get to meet and chat with many great Atlantans about Project Open Hand at a wonderful local restaurant, but because it brings attention to a cause to thousands of people eating in hundreds of restaurants all over the city on the same night. This powerful event also allows me to reconnect and remind myself that I am fortunate to be able to care for myself, go out to dinner with friends or to the grocery store and cook a meal. I sometimes forget how something so basic and automatic to me like access to nutrious food is something so many others have to worry about or cannot provide for themselves because they are too sick in one way or another to give themselves the basic nutrition their body needs to continue to fight illness and stay as healthy as possible. Project Open Hand Atlanta is empowering people to live healthier and more productive lives by creating access to healthy meals and providing nutrition education. 25% of all dinner’s check goes directly to Project Open Hand.
