Open Hand Atlanta's mission simply states: "We cook. We deliver. We teach. We Care".

Open Hand Atlanta is one of the largest community-based providers of home-delivered meals and nutrition services in the U.S. Founded in 1988, we deliver delicious, nourishing meals and nutrition education to thousands of seniors, children and families, and our neighbors who are at risk for or have a disability or illness. We provide all our services free to clients as more than 90% of Open Hand clients are from under-resourced communities, and 75% of those live at or below the federal poverty line. One-third of our clients recently reported that, if not for Open Hand, they would have no idea where their next meal would be coming from.

While these last two years have been challenging for us all, it has been especially difficult for those who suffered from food-insecurity, underlying health conditions, and poverty before the COVID crisis even began. Open Hand produces 5,000 meals per day to serve these vulnerable individuals and families throughout the community, to ensure that no client goes without a nutritious meal.

Every day Open Hand Atlanta fulfills the most basic need for thousands of low-income, chronically ill individuals, because we believe food saves lives.

At Dragon Con, we raise money for our designated charity throughout via auctions and other events. In 2022, funds will be donated to Open Hand Atlanta.
